Introducing Mr. Out of Bounds 2009!

In case you missed it, the team has acquired another accolade! Send a spirited congratulations to Nicholas F., Brian W. and Diego T. for representing Cheer New York on March 9th at the First Annual "Mr. Out of Bounds" contest.

Nicholas F. utilized his awesome costuming skills to attach a cheerific rhinestone "CNY" and star to his red and white tighties. He also showed a wilder side, many of us had not seen, and showed us just what pom poms are for!

Brian W. had the crowd hooting and hollering with his physique and especially when he showed them his All-American (red-white-and-blue) airbrushed graffiti "CNY" art on the backside of his briefs.

And Diego T., in his blue and white aussieBum briefs—strutted around the stage with his big Cheer NY megaphone. Faced with the question, "What would you do with the great power and responsibility of Mr. Out of Bounds?" Diego T. secured his 1st-place spot by answering, "I'd convince everyone to volunteer for The Trevor Project."

The Trevor Project was the focus of the evening. It is a great charity that operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. Fundraising efforts were a huge success, based on the overwhelming turnout—as the place was a crowded scene full of jocks and sports enthusiasts. Thanks to everyone who came to help Out of Bounds fundraise and support The Trevor Project!

When the judges made their decision, Brian W. took home the “Most Out of Bounds Spirit Award,” and “Second Runner Up,” and Diego T. took the coveted title of “Mr. Out of Bounds 2009!” We'll have to remind Diego T. that it's not safe to stunt wearing a sash or tiara!

All Cheer NY contestants made a huge impression and represented the team proudly. Everyone in that room thought, "That's a group I want to be a part of!" Congratulations Cheer New York!

Happy Birthday Jason, Clay & Will!!

Last year we thought it was pretty special that Clay and Wil had the same birthday but now we have yet another CNYer that was born on March 24th! Three really is the magic number. Today is Clay, Jason and Will's birthday.

Clay
has been a part of Cheer NY from the very begining and has been contributing behind the scenes as the Team Manager for as long as we can remember. Aside from having the nicest legs on the team, Clay's dedication a endless passion for CNY are constantly on display.

Jason joined the team back in the summer of 2008 but it feels like he has always been a part of the family. His infectious laugh and big bear hugs make it such a pleasure to be around. His stunting skills aren't too shabby either.

Wil is our energizer bunny. He's up to try any dance, cheer or stunt and if he doesn't have an assigned task you better believe he will be off to the side working on his dance moves or encouraging teammates to try a new stunt.

Happy birthday boys!! We are so proud of our "triple threat". : )

New Cheer for Life Recipients!!

Cheer New York is proud to announce our TWO newest recipients of monies from our Cheer for Life Fund! By an outstanding show of support through our democratic process, the members of Cheer New York selected the following organizations.

Submitted by Miss Blogerette herself, Kelsey M., because of her active involvement in the organization, The Alzheimer's Association's mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

Secondly, the Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation sponsors Camp TLC for teenagers living with HIV. The past two summers member Tiffany G. has volunteered and seen firsthand the positive impact that this one-week camp has had. The campers can be open about their diagnosis and meet others similar to them. It provides an opportunity for them to build social support.

Please help us support these organizations by donating on our
website or coming to one of our fundraising events in the next four months and donating there.
